Wondering which time was nicer and whether the best days are still ahead of us—that’s a feeling many of us share as we take our first steps into 2026. For me, this new year begins with a renewed focus on simplicity, efficiency, and small improvements that make a real difference.
Today, I want to share two developments from my workbench, starting with a new Shopware plugin that aims to solve a surprisingly common problem.
Why a Quantity Dropdown Matters More Than You Think
Every shop owner knows the situation: customers would like to buy more than one item, but the default +/- quantity selector in Shopware isn’t always the most intuitive or fastest way to do so. Especially when someone wishes to order 10, 20, or even 50 units.
This is where my new plugin comes in. It replaces the standard quantity stepper with a clean, familiar dropdown menu. Instead of tapping a button over and over, customers simply open the dropdown and select the quantity they want—instantly, without friction, and without second‑guessing which keys to press.
To be fair, I should mention that you can, of course, type in the quantity manually in the now‑default behavior.
If you maintain or operate a Shopware installation, you can try out the benefits of this UI change within minutes. The plugin is available in the Shopware Store, ready for testing in your environment. Whether you run a small niche shop or manage a larger catalog, this may help streamline the buying experience.
Bookmark sync made easy
The second project I’m releasing at the beginning of 2026 takes a small step away from e‑commerce and moves into something a bit more personal—a simple improvement to a workflow issue that has been nagging me for years. If you use Google Chrome with multiple profiles—maybe one for work, one for private browsing—you’ve probably noticed that each profile keeps its own separate set of bookmarks. That separation can be useful, but it typically gets in the way when you just want a consistent set of folders everywhere.
So I built a small Windows application to minimize this friction. The tool synchronizes bookmarks between Chrome profiles on the same Windows machine. You simply select a folder as the root, and the app automatically mirrors its bookmarks into the target folder. Whenever you update your bookmarks—add or delete a link—you can push the changes to the other profile.
So have fun exploring my new developments.
💫 Wishing you a good start, concluding with a quote
Within the gentle circulation of these new days, I’m reminded of a line by Julien Benda:
- Peace, if it ever exists, will not be based on the fear of war but on the love of peace.
Interestingly, the internet does make a difference.
